Cork flooring is naturally warm, quiet and comfortable underfoot. We supply and fit Granorte engineered cork floors in Edinburgh, including preparation, underlay, trims and optional underfloor heating where the selected floor is approved for it.
The cellular structure of cork gives it useful thermal and acoustic properties without the hard feel of tile or laminate. It is especially well suited to bedrooms, studies and living spaces where comfort and sound reduction matter.
Choosing engineered cork flooring for your Edinburgh home
Introduce nature into your home with engineered cork. As cork flooring fitters in Edinburgh, we supply it and lay it. In fact, the bark of the cork oak tree has a unique honeycomb structure composed of tiny cells filled entirely with air. Moreover, the properties of cork derive naturally from the structure and chemical composition of the extremely strong and flexible membranes, which are also waterproof and airtight.
Each cubic centimetre of cork holds between 30 and 40 million cells. Roughly 80% of it is air.

What the job covers
The floor, the finish round it, and - if you want it - warmth underneath. All of it by the same people.
Granorte natural
Cork as it comes out of the bark, in grains from fine to coarse. Warm, quiet and unmistakably a natural material rather than a print of one.
View moreGranorte leather
A leather wear surface over a cork core. The feel of cork underfoot with a finish that belongs in a study or a bedroom.
View moreBeading & door bars
Matching scotia and beading, new skirting where the old will not go back on, and a door bar at every threshold so nothing catches underfoot.
View moreUnderfloor heating (optional)
While the floor is up, heating film can go underneath it - so the room warms from the ground rather than from a radiator on the wall. Entirely optional, and the floor is the same floor without it.
View moreLifting & preparation
The old floor up and away, the subfloor checked for level and damp, and levelling compound where it needs it. A new floor is only as flat as what is under it.
View moreCompatible with heating
Cork is warm underfoot before any heating goes near it, and the ranges we lay are rated to sit over film as well. You are not choosing between the two.

Thin enough to forget it is there
Carbon film is a dry-lay system. There is no adhesive, no screed and no wet trades, so the floor goes back down the same day it comes up.
- The element is around 0.4mm thick, so thresholds and door clearances stay where they are
- Rated 130W/m² - enough to be the only heat source in a well-insulated room
- Depron insulation below the film stops your heat disappearing into the subfloor
- A PET vapour barrier above it protects the element and meets BS EN 60335-2-96
- Not earthed, so it is for wood, laminate and carpet - never a bathroom

Carbon film underfloor heating
The perfect heating solution for your home. Suitable for use below engineered wood flooring
Natural cork or leather-finish cork
Granorte natural cork displays the grain and variation of the material itself. Leather-finish products use a recycled leather surface over a cork-based construction, giving the room a darker and more formal finish. We can bring samples so both options can be seen in the room before ordering.
Cork over underfloor heating
Only use a cork product whose manufacturer permits it over underfloor heating. We check the board construction and thermal resistance, then set the floor-temperature limit required for that product.
